Delphos applauds Guatemala for its commitment to renewable energy

Delphos is contributing to the development and construction of a 65.96 MW solar PV park in Escuintla, Guatemala, through a debt raise for MPC Energy Solutions.

This marks a significant stride towards sustainable energy generation in the region, aligning with Guatemala’s commitment to meeting its growing power demands.

Delphos envisions a brighter, cleaner future for Guatemala through this renewable energy initiative

Once operational, the plant is expected to generate around 141 GWh of electricity per year.

As announced in February 2023 by MPCES, the output from the plant will be sold entirely to Ingenio Magdalena S.A.

(IMSA) under a 16-year fixed-price PPA.

The IMSA Group is Guatemala’s leading producer and exporter of refined sugar.

The group, which processes 6.5 million tons of sugarcane per year, is also the largest private energy producer in Guatemala and supplies around 8 percent of Guatemala's total energy consumption from its power generating facilities.

Andrew Brown, President of Delphos says “ We are enthusiastic about this $42M project (estimated value) it is one of a kind and Guatemala’s largest project to date.

Approximately 141 GWh of clean electricity will be produced annually making a significant difference to the clean energy access in this part of the world.”
